From the first page to the last, this story And They Danced, The Tess Corona Chronicles Book 1 hooked me and became near unputdownable. I cannot wait to read the second book in this series.
Author Tiffany Seitz crafted a fresh take on a paranormal story, along with creating such memorable characters that you instantly feel connected with them. The bestest character in this book is Gram who was vividly brought to life throughout the pages.
This story centers around Tess who has paranormal sensitives and yet almost denies them because she does not fully understand them. What is cool is the connection to her twin brother Laz.
What I wished for was a tad deeper dive into the history of the ghost who created so much havoc in this foundational story, as well as what happened to Tess that freaked her out deeply that she ran to the service to get away.
Love authors who throw in tidbits of our Texas history that I did not know about. I have driven in Vernon for eight years and did not know about North Texas State Hospital. In 1917, the state of Texas created an Insane Asylum south of Wichita Falls and then activated a branch of itself in Vernon in the 1950s. Never knew this.
Relatable, charismatic characters, especially Gram makes this story shine. One could almost call this story a cozy, mystery novel with a paranormal twist. It is definitely a mystery enlivened with characters you care about from Gram to the Texas Ranger. And They Danced, The Tess Corona Chronicles Book 1 is a fantabulous start to this book series. If you love ghost stories, the paranormal, great characters, and fast-paced stories, then you need to check out this book.
By the way, the book cover is simply gorgeous. Kudos to the graphic artist.

It sounds like maybe Gram needs a book of her own! Love this review & like you, I love when I learn tidbits of Texas history while being thoroughly entertained. Thanks for sharing this (and YES! That cover is dreamy). Adding to the TBR.
